Studio Policies
Dress Code
In the studio, we require hair to be pulled back and out of the face at all times. In ballet, we require tights, and leotard, and an optional skirt with ballet shoes at all times (Babies - Junior Prep have specific leotard color that can be found in the class information tab)
For other classes other than ballet, please wear dance appropriate clothing. T-shirts, sweatpants, shorts, or street clothes is only permitted in hip-hop class.
General Rules
No food, gum, or drinks are allowed in the studio space. Cell phone usage is not allowed. Phones must be turned off and placed on silent mode prior to entering the studio. No IPads or other electronic devices of this type is permitted in the studio. No squishes are allowed in the studio as well. Dress code is to be followed for each class. Observers are not permitted in the classroom without permission from the instructor.
Registration and Placement
A non-refundable fee of $45.00 per family is required in order to be enrolled in our dance program. To register, click on the contact us tab and click on register now. Faculty at Arise Studio of Dance decides on each student’s class placement. Placement is highly individual and is based on age, ability, maturity, attendance record, and overall willingness to learn. Students do not always progress at the same rate and each student should be working at a level suitable for them. We completely understand that friends enjoy being together, but we ask for parents to support staff decisions on the matter.
Communication
Arise offers many classes for training. Students are accepted from ages 3 and up. Ballet is a pre-requisite for all students interested in enrolling in jazz or contemporary. Students enrolled in Hip Hop Only are not required to take a ballet class. Hip hop classes are offered to 1st grade students and older.
Lost and Found
Please label all dance wear, shoes, and accessories. We are not responsible for the loss of personal property. Please leave jewelry at home and check the lost and found basket at the front desk for missing items.
Curriculum
The majority of communication between Arise and families will be done via email through arisestudiodance@gmail.com. Please make sure to keep a current email address on file. You can also contact us by giving a call during our office hours, both listed below. If we are not in office, you can leave a message and we will be in contact as soon as possible.
Attendance
Each student is expected to attend the entire dance season and arrive early for every class. Instructors take and keep attendance each class. Excessive absences will jeopardize the dancer’s eligibility to participate in recital. Students are responsible for learning new choreography during an absence.
Students should arrive NO MORE than 15 minute prior to the start of the class and should remain in the lobby until class time. Please do not enter the classroom early to pick up your dancer, just let us know ahead of time so we don’t disrupt classes. We understand things come up, we just Arise should be notified in advance regarding early pick-up and absences when possible.
Dance Recital
Recital is always an exciting time of year to showcase all of our dancers’ hard work throughout the year. We believe recital gives the dancers an opportunity to create self-esteem and confidence while they demonstrate their talent to family and friends. We try to get recital date out well ahead of time and we will have that information available soon. Please make sure you keep up to date with our important dates and social media for updates.
Class Assistant
Assisting is offered to intermediate and advanced level students who are interested in assisting in lower level classes. Assisting is a learning and rewarding experience. Assistants are selected by faculty. Due to limitations on classes, not all applicants will be selected.
A mandatory informational meeting for all interested assistants will happen at the beginning of the year.
